Some time ago, it appears that the state of Florida sold out to the pharmaceuticals industry, with respect to the alleged citrus canker threat and its danger to the State of Florida residents.
The net result of the state's actions was to rid Florida residents of white grapefruit trees in their yards.
The benefit was that the pharmaceuticals industry gained sole possession of the production of GSE: grapefruit seed extract. No longer would residents be able to enjoy the medicinal benefits of white grapefruit for free, as our ancestors did.
Now, we have to pay the pharmaceutical industry for it.
